The contemporary creations of the House of Isabey are the result of a collaboration between Creative Director Rania Naim and world-renowned perfumers. Her journey began with Jean Jacques from 1999 to 2019, followed by Luca Maffei in 2020, Marie Schnirer, and most recently, Patrice Revillard.
Step into the realm of our visionary perfumers, where passion and creativity unite to craft extraordinary scent experiences.
“A perfume should be not so much an image or a concept, but rather a work of art, a creation of excellence with its own story to tell.”
Music and perfume have a common vocabulary made up of composition and notes. Jean Jacques offers the perfect illustration of the common denominator between the two arts. At 16, he played the piano and loved jazz. At 20, one of his friends mentioned ISIPCA to him. It was to be a revelation that cast a veil of uncertainty over his firm intention to be a musician. He fell for the charms of perfume, in what was to be a key moment in his studies and artistic aspirations.
In 1993, he initially joined Quest International at first to work with Pierre Bourdon and later with Maurice Roucel. Then, in 1994 he was recruited by Kao Corporation, and three years later in 1997, he moved to Takasago. Throughout his career, he has maintained a deep passion for creativity, especially when experimenting with raw materials. In 2019, he became the in-house perfumer for Caron, and most recently in 2024, he took on the role of Chanel’s in-house perfumer.
A young promise of Italian Perfumery, Luca Maffei began to work as an Assistant Perfumer in 2007, in the family company, at the end of his classical and economic education.
“My father and grandfather have always been in the industry, I grew up among perfumes. From an early age I developed a special sensitivity,” says Luca. As a result, since his childhood, he was close to the world of fragrances, “fascinated by the charm of raw materials and the mysterious alchemy by which they combine,” and thus decided to explore this unique and wonderful world.
Later, he started individual training with Françoise Marin, a perfumer and former director of the prestigious perfumery school of Roure (Givaudan) in Grasse. During this time, he studied accords, iconic fragrances, and raw materials using the Jean Carles method. Immediately after, he began creating, thanks to an internship at a major fragrance house in Grasse. Upon returning to Italy, he joined M&M Fragrances and signed his first creations.
In 2011, he founded Atelier Fragranze Milano with his father, in the role of perfumer and CEO.
Of pure Parisian descent, Urbanity, Architecture and Arts are for perfumer Marie Schnirer the endless and rich roots of inspiration. After completing her chemistry studies at the University of Paris 7 she joined the École Supérieure du Parfum. Furthermore, Marie is a globe trotter, she lives at the rhythm of time zones and therefore developed a sharp and fine knowledge of international markets and tastes (Russia, Asia, Middle East, North America).
At the laboratory, she is among all in charge of custom-made creations and stands out as she enjoys composing generous and passionate perfumes.
She dares, does not compromise, and is driven by audacity. Marie aims to discover new olfactory frontiers, to create harmonious, subtle, and innovative accords while remaining close to the wishes of the perfume house.
Born in Annecy, the countryside and his grandmother’s garden marked Patrice Revillard’s youth, as well as roses and his interest in plants and botany. A passion that would lead him to perfumes and scents, after studying biology and chemistry. However, finding these disciplines too general and lacking the artistic aspect he longed for, he decided to join the École Supérieure du Parfum in Paris.
Although plants and evocations of nature remain his primary sources of inspiration and favorite subjects, Patrice is also interested in the history of perfumes. By studying and understanding the context of the creations of the more abstract olfactory forms that have marked modern perfumery allows him to integrate the architecture of fragrances over the
decades, enabling him to undertake the realization of his own creations.
To him, perfume is nothing without structure and without a strong, original, daring accord. He is fascinated by the emotions that perfume can convey, so in every project, he seeks to create the most beautiful fragrant story from his inspiration. Today, Patrice is a MAELSTROM perfumer.
